transgaming

Evo noviteta koji je upravo (i neočekivano) stigao u moj inbox.

Prije nekoliko godina u sklopu rada za svoj poslijediplomskki studij pisao sam o tvrtki Transgaming technologies. Razmijenio sam tada nekoliko mailova s njihovim predstavnicima i napisao rad o njihovom poslovnom modelu. Od tada me svako toliko (ne pretjerano često) “zaspamaju” novitetima o svojim proizvodima.

E pa “brace yourselves”, ovo je malo prije stiglo:

“You have probably heard the news that TransGaming and EA have been working together to get some of the hottest games out there in the hands of Mac users. Now the wait is over. We are very pleased to announce that four hit titles are making their way into Apple stores across North America. Soon, Mac users will be able to join the throngs of gamers already playing Battlefield 2142, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Need for Speed: Carbon. Don’t forget that shortly after the release of these games will come Tiger Woods 08 and Madden NFL 08. With the recent unveiling of new iMacs and a slew of new triple-A titles, it really has never been better to be a Mac gamer.”

Taman kad smo se počeli pitati hoće li najava o EA igicama na Macu već tokom ovog ljeta otići u vjetar evo daška nade.

Ipak valja naglasiti, to što su Transgaming upleteni znači da igrice nisu nativno razvijene za mac platformu nego su to windows igrice “prekompajlirane” tako da rade sa Transgamingovim emulacijskim engineom.

Iz iskustva mogu potvrditi da su neke igre napravljene po tom principu na Linuxu radile bolje nego na Windowsima, no neke baš i nisu.
